Speaking Search Engine
Published: January 27, 2005
With accessibility being the flavour of the day, Speegle has launched a speaking search engine, based on Google. Due to the extra bandwidth required to serve voice data, be prepared for slow results. There are also keyboard shortcuts to assist navigation.
In theory, the idea of a speaking search engine is a good one. My concerns with the success of such a technology is that because of this bandwidth issue, server side voice data isn't the way to go. If you have existing client side, text processing software, you can access Google directly, get the benefits of that such as performance, not to mention deal with many other websites that are designed with the web standards in mind.
The thought's there I guess.
