Captain Access
Published: August 12, 2005
Captain Access is here to promote Hastings' very own web accessibility conference to be held at the new University Centre Hastings.
We have guest speakers [including myself] offering expert advice on accessibility devices, the business case for writing websites to the W3 standards, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - WCAG1.0 - explanations, methods used to achieve compliance with the UK's Disability Discrimination Act, how CSS is used for positioning layouts [something which on the face of it looks easy but can be frighteningly time consuming and complicated] and much, much more...
If you're a business and the internet is a major part of that then visit the site and book your seat. The conference is aimed at local web designers and developers but any company with an interest is welcome. If you're in the Hastings and Bexhill area then your booking fee is paid for by the EU so you go free of charge. Outside of the area, the level of subsidy means it will cost £50 which is still fantastic value for money.
