google thinks my site is not in the UK, when it is!
Hi,
It seems google has recently decided that www.rightcareindex.com is not a uk site, so a search for rightcareindex in google.co.uk doesn't show the site.
Is this because it is a .com site? Surely there must be thousands of UK .com sites. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do? We own the .co.uk version.
Cheers!

Re: google thinks my site is not in the UK, when it is!
Welcome Geoff.
I've only had a very, very brief glance but there are some immediate concerns. First of all .com is a global domain. This doesn't exclusively mean you're not a UK service so don't worry too much about that. You're also hosted with 1&1 and your server is based in Germany. This won't help either. However, when I done a quick search of the copy on your site, the acronym UK doesn't appear to exist. It's not in the copy of your website.
When you consider those three points, it's no wonder the search engines aren't sure where to serve you.
1) Add the UK to the copy of your content, particularly the address in the footer.
2) Get listed in some UK business directories.
With both the above you'll start to see a difference but it will take a few weeks for the search engines to figure it out and make their minds up.
Keep us posted on your status!

You can also add your site to Google Business Locality listing here: www.google.com/local/add
This will also help Google determine where you are physically located. Also definately look at getting a co.uk domain and doing a 301 redirect.
